Poas Volcano & Coffee Experience

About:

The Poas Volcano is among the most visited national parks in the Costa Rican National Park System. It features two extremely impressive craters, one of which holds a lovely blue lagoon.

At 2,704 meters high, you will find the first crater 1.3km wide and 300m deep. Great opportunity for a snapshot from the observation deck!

We will also visit The Doka Coffee Plantation. At Doka Coffee Plantation you will have the opportunity to observe all about the different ways of processing the coffee.

“A coffee Plantation and its history that was born in the slopes of Poas Volcano, just 40 minutes away you can enjoy a unique experience”, Visiting the largest coffee plantation in Costa Rica will allow you to learn everything about the process related to cultivation, processing and good practices, as well as your natural and cultural environment

Discover the step-by-step process of seed germination to the first crop of our plants. There you will observe and be explained the development process of the plant up to the point of recollection of the ripe grain. You will also learn about the history of the estate, its owners, the production and varieties of plants, the geography of the area and the traditional ways of cultivating the grain.

Learn more about our production and the Vargas family, pioneers of the activity since 1940, harvesting times of the fruit, who perform important work, the type of crop, its characteristics, natural methods of crop protection and how all these elements are Combined to get a cup of high quality coffee and a complete experience. A unique experience of visiting the oldest Wet Mill of Costa Rica (UNESCO 2014) as well as its machinery with more than 120 years, this will allow you to learn each of the stages of the process (separation of qualities, peeling, fermentation tanks and drying off the beans).

Captivate your senses and discover the secrets behind our knowledge by feeling the aroma, texture and taste of each of our Tres Generaciones Coffee tastes. Once the Tour is over, we invite you to our Casa Doka, where in addition to tasting the Tres Generaciones coffee and our famous chocolates with coffee, you will be able to buy liquors, local souvenirs and art related to the experience.

Please meet at Playa Hermosa Vacation Office in Central Jaco or we will coordinate transportation with you.
